That's some masterful texturing you got going on there. are you using anything harder that 2H at all?

...my tools typically are ...pencils, f , b, 2b, 3b, and sometimes 4b....helix hand held electric erasure...i keep the erasure cartridges "sharp" using light grit sand paper....tape to remove, then re-apply the graphite to achieve the different textures....i am currently working on a cold-press, 100% rag mat board, tho i do experiment constantly with other papers.....was only a landscape artist for 30 years....been doing still life for about 2 years....graphite has always been my first choice...hope you like them...go to my web-site, ronnormanfineart.com to see more......cheers ron norman....inormal

I think it would be wonderful to see some of your landscape art here. I'll check out the site then.
Could you elaborate a bit more on the taping texture making?

....the tape is used to carefully remove graphite or color pencil......simply draw the texture you are going for , then "gingerly"apply the tape over that, careful not to allow the tape to make full purchase on the paper.....the tape will remove some of the pencil, but not all....this technique was discovered by me when i accidentally dropped a piece of tape on a drawing.....i use it quite often....takes practice, and you must rely on your intuition , but the payoff is a technique that lends itself well to the hyper- real....cheers...ron...

Wooow, so it works as a fine eraser to add small textures, I see now, that could prove VERY useful in things like white textures on smooth grey surfaces since drawing around is tremendously time consuming, and erasing is near impossible in small areas. This is some really good knowledge, thank you very much, I may be using this technique in the future. :)

....you might also try an electric erasure.....i use a small, hand-held one, and i keep the erasure point sharp with low grit sand paper...perfect for cleaning up those hard to get to places.....i have actually "invented" some pretty cool tools to help me along....everyone does eventually.....mechanical aid are very useful, as long as you don't let them get in the way of your talent......cheers...ron

Haha, precisely see, I started out just using one pencil and nothing else fancy, I think I'll keep it simple for now, though sometime in the near future if there is something I absolutely cannot make with just my hands and a pencil, I'll lean on the mechanical side ;)

I'm not often drawn to still lives, not that they're not great pieces of art but you know how it goes, to each their own when it comes to what interests them.

This one however is certainly an exception and I found myself staring at it for ages.
I love the composition of the scene and the detail you've put in really makes this a very eye catching and beautiful piece.

Congrats on the DD, it's well deserved. :)
